Product Engineer (Intern)
On-Site, Singapore
[This position is open to candidates based in Singapore only]
We are seeking a motivated Product Engineering Intern to help shape the next generation of wearable technology. At TacnIQ.ai, we’re not just building devices — we’re pioneering the field of Tactile Intelligence, using force and pressure data to understand how humans move, lift, and interact with the physical world.
Our first product, Backy™, is a smart belt that detects unsafe lifting postures and provides real-time haptic feedback to prevent injury. Powered by what is likely the world’s first commercially deployed tactile AI model, Backy™ is already delivering measurable ROI for companies in logistics, construction, and healthcare.
This internship is your opportunity to work hands-on at the intersection of mechanical design, ergonomics, and product engineering, helping to create technology that is not only innovative but genuinely improves people’s lives.
What You’ll Do
Support the design and refinement of Backy™, focusing on ergonomic fit, comfort, and usability.
Assist in selecting materials that balance durability, flexibility, and aesthetics for wearable comfort.
Create 3D models, CAD drawings, and prototypes, and iterate based on real-world testing and user feedback.
Collaborate with the hardware team to integrate sensors and electronics seamlessly into the wearable design.
Conduct basic mechanical testing and simulations to validate durability and reliability.
Contribute to Design for Manufacturing (DFM) to optimize the product for efficient, scalable production.
Prepare documentation including BOMs, assembly instructions, and technical specifications.
Requirements
Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical & Electronic Engineering, Industrial Design, Product Design, or a related field.
Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Fusion 360, AutoCAD) and 3D modelling.
Familiarity with materials used in wearable products, such as polymers, textiles, or lightweight metals.
Basic knowledge of prototyping techniques and manufacturing processes (3D printing, CNC machining).
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
Ability to communicate design concepts clearly and work effectively in a collaborative environment.
Nice-to-Have Skills
Knowledge of ergonomic principles and experience with human-centered design.
Familiarity with Finite Element Analysis (FEA) or other mechanical simulation tools.
